If you’d like to stay longer, Trutnov is the best choice for an overnight stay. My tip: the Grand Luxury Hotel right on the main square – affordable, comfortable, and with a great breakfast. You’ll also find charming guesthouses in the old town. In the evening, it’s worth strolling through the narrow streets. For Bohemian cuisine, Pod Hradem is a good option, while U Bulánka serves modern interpretations of classic dishes. Fancy coffee and cake? Then stop by Kavárna U Koruny – it’s also perfect for stocking up on snacks for your excursions.

Tips for your visit

Packing list: Comfortable shoes are perfectly sufficient – ​​most paths are easy to walk. Sunscreen is a good idea, and you should also bring plenty of water. While there are snack stands at the entrances, there are only small stalls selling local snacks within the park itself. A picnic in the park is therefore the best option.

Around Lake Piskovna: A dream in turquoise

Right at the entrance, you’ll find Lake Piskovna, whose turquoise waters are simply breathtaking. Even though it’s man-made, it feels otherworldly. The circular path around the lake only takes 15 to 20 minutes and is the perfect introduction to the rocky landscape.

The Grand Loop: The highlight of the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks

Then comes the main attraction: the “Grand Loop.” This circular trail leads you past the most famous rock formations. Many of the rocks bear whimsical names like “Lovers” or “Giant Dog”—and it’s fun to discover their shapes. Don’t regret anything: The Weckelsdorf rocks are also worth visiting.

My mistake: I skipped the Weckelsdorf Rocks. A detour there will not only take you to the famous Teplice Rocks, but also to the Střmen Castle ruins – definitely a highlight. Plan some extra time for it; it’s worth it!

Back at the start of the Wolf’s Gorge, it’s time to complete the Grand Loop. The western part of the trail is full of stairs, but don’t worry, the effort is well worth it. After all those steps, a spectacular view awaits you. You’ve spent all day looking up at the rock towers; now you can look down on them from above. These viewpoints offer a completely new perspective and are truly something special.

A narrow path

The descent is equally impressive. One of the staircases leads through a narrow crevice in the rock that lets in hardly any light. It feels as if you’ve stumbled into a tunnel – a truly unique experience.
