Day 1: Hike around the Parchov Rocks
The most famous hike in Bohemian Paradise leads to the Parchov Rocks – a spectacular rock formation with breathtaking views. Those who want to enjoy the magic of this landscape in peace and quiet should start early. That’s precisely why we decided to arrive at the Parkoviště Prachovské skály – Turistická chata parking lot before 8:00 a.m. This is the best choice for anyone visiting the Parchov Rocks by car.
Four different hiking trails start from the parking lot, each offering a unique nature experience. The yellow route is the shortest at 1.5 km, while the red route is 2.5 km long. Those who prefer a longer hike can choose the 3.5 km green route. The blue route is a suitable alternative for visitors with strollers.
To get the most out of the hike, we chose the green route. This leads past several viewpoints and offers spectacular perspectives of the impressive rock formations. Every step is worthwhile, as the bizarre sandstone cliffs and dense forests create a fairytale setting.
Day 2: Hike through Hruboskalsko
After exploring the Parchov Rocks, there was still enough time for a second hike in the Bohemian Paradise. The decision was made to hike in the Hruboskalsko area, known for its rugged rock formations and fairytale views. However, some trails were closed, which made route planning somewhat difficult.
Getting there was easy: parking is available at the Castle Hill Car Park or the Forrest Car Park. Those preferring a shorter route can also park at Lázně Sedmihorky – parkoviště. The destination of the hike was Valdštejn Castle, combined with visiting as many viewpoints as possible along the way.
The following highlights should not be missed on any route:
1. Castle view – a first impression of the historical atmosphere
2. Marienfelsen viewpoint – spectacular panoramic views
3. Restaurace Koupak – a good point of reference
4. Janova vyhlídka – another fantastic viewpoint
5. Valdštejn Castle – the oldest castle in Bohemian Paradise
6. U Radce – a picturesque viewpoint
7. Lion’s View – an impressive panorama
The route was easy to compare using Google Maps and the local signposts. The hike itself was a highlight of the day: breathtaking views, mystical forests, and the imposing castle as the crowning glory. A slight drawback was the section on paved roads, which offered less impressive rocky landscapes. Those who want to be guided entirely by nature should stick to the red route, as it leads directly to the castle via idyllic forest paths.
Conclusion: An unforgettable day in Bohemian Paradise that makes you want to embark on further adventures in this unique region!
