Brdy, the highest mountain range entirely within the Czech Republic, has also been gradually being developed by humans since January 2016. During the Romantic era and the rise of tourism, it was later used as a military training area, which led to the preservation of the local natural landscape.

Formerly a military restricted area and a locally controversial topic, it is now open to the public. However, unless you are traveling with a Czech-speaking friend, you should be aware that there are still active landmines in the area, and signs warn visitors to stay on the marked paths.

You don’t need to worry if you stay on the path or on the roads, but all warning signs are in Czech, so it would be very helpful for an English-speaking visitor without Czech language skills to know this beforehand.. STAY ON THE ROAD AT ALL COURSE!

But don’t let that discourage you; as long as you follow the path, you will be rewarded with this area, surrounded by a beautiful forest and two great peaks, Tok and Praha.

We rented e-bikes to explore the area, which is a great way to get around if you plan to explore the Brdy Mountains area by land. do not recommend , to bring the bikes up the mountain, unless you are familiar and experienced with mountain biking and advanced in it.

We followed a path that led us up Praha Mountain, and the way down was a bit too advanced for all of us, and a little scary for me personally. In the end, I had to walk downhill with my bike.

Alternatively, we think that the best way to explore the mountains is by hiking, especially if you plan to visit the peaks of Tok and Praha.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, leave the Brdy Mountains and visit the  Podlesí Brewery , one of the few options near the park and about a 30-minute drive away. Pack Snacks beforehand one, since it is in the No proximity There are options.

If you are too tired to return, or have planned a whole day outdoors, the Podlesí Brewery also serves as a guesthouse with rooms for overnight stays.
