Pilsen in a day: Historic Old Town, Beer & Modern Culture

Morning: Old Town & Panoramic View
- 9:30 a.m. – Platz der Republik: Start in the city center with a visit to St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral. Those who are fit can climb the 102-meter-high tower for a spectacular panoramic view of the city (299 steps).
- 10:30 AM – Underground or puppets:
- Option A (History): Pilsen’s historical underworld (Veleslavínova 58), a fascinating labyrinth of cellars and passageways.
- Option B (Family/Culture): Puppet Museum on the main square – meet Spejbl and Hurvínek.
- 11:30 a.m. – Great Synagogue: Just a short walk away, impressive and the second largest in Europe.
Lunch: Traditional refreshments
- 12:30 pm – Lunch at the “Lékárna”: Back at the main square, with authentic Czech cuisine and freshly tapped Pilsner Urquell. Alternative for burger fans: Brunette Burger (formerly Blondies) nearby.
Afternoon: The Heart of Beer & Modern Culture
- 2:00 PM – Pilsner Urquell Brewery Tour: Walk across the bridge to the brewery, book an approximately 80-minute guided tour with a tasting of the unfiltered beer directly in the historic cellar.
- 4:00 PM – Creative break at DEPO2015: Along the river to DEPO2015, the center of Pilsen’s creative scene with exhibitions, a café and industrial charm.
Evening: Closing Moments & Outlook
- 6:00 PM – Dinner & Drinks:
- Pivstro (Brewery Bistro) for modern craft beer culture and street food.
- Or sunset on the terrace, a bar on the old city wall overlooking the park.
- Optional: Cross Cafe in the high-rise building (“Bohemia Building”) for a coffee with a panoramic view.

- Mobility: The city center is compact and easily explored on foot. For the tram, simply tap your credit card on the terminals inside the tram.
