For the 2026 season, the Edmundsklamm temporarily closed or severely restricted. New geological surveys have identified hazardous objects (loose rocks, etc.) that must first be secured. A full or regular opening will not be possible. at the earliest in summer 2026 expected.
📍 Wichtige Besucher-Infos 2026

- Access: Accessible only on foot (approx. 20-30 min from Hřensko)
- The boat trip: A section approximately 960 meters long that can only be navigated by boat.
- Duration: The boat trip itself takes about 20 minutes.
🛶 What is open instead? The Wild Gorge (Divoká soutěska)
The Wild Gorge has been back in normal operation since April 1, 2026:
- Opening hours: Daily from approximately 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (until November 1, 2026).
- Operation: Boat trips are possible without restrictions.
- Hiking trails: Some of the roads in the surrounding area (e.g. to Mezná or to the Pravčická Gate) are open.
Note: The classic combination with a boat trip through both gorges is unfortunately not possible at the moment.
The experience: Between moss and myths
The rock faces rise steeply up to 150 meters above the water. During the boat trip, the ferryman silently steers the boat through the dark water using a long pole (the “hook”). Along the way, you’ll hear humorous stories about the rock formations, which resemble animals or mythical creatures, and admire the artificial waterfall, which is activated for guests by a rope pulley system.
🌡️ Cool microclimate
Even on hot summer days, the gorge remains pleasantly cool. An ideal retreat from the midday heat!
🌿 Unique flora
Due to the “inversion weather conditions” (cold below, warm above), plants grow here that are otherwise only found in high mountains.

💡 Insider knowledge: Why “Edmund” Gorge?
The gorge was opened to tourists at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of Prince Edmund von Clary-Aldringen. He had the paths hewn into the rock and the weirs built for the boats. Previously, the gorge was considered impassable and instilled fear in the locals.
The Edmundsklamm gorge will be a symbol of nature’s enduring power in 2026. A visit here is balm for the soul and an absolute must for every nature photographer.. Vítejte v hlubokém tichu! (Welcome to the deep silence!)
