A tour through Western Bohemia – 7 to 8 days full of culture, nature and spa tradition

Western Bohemia is one of the most diverse regions in the Czech Republic: elegant spa towns, dense forests, historic cities, and impressive castles are all within easy reach. This seven- to eight-day tour takes you through Cheb, Františkovy Lázně, Mariánské Lázně, Loket, Karlovy Vary, and Pilsen – an ideal blend of wellness, culture, and nature.

🟦 Day 1: Cheb (Eger)

Your tour begins in Cheb, one of the most historically significant cities in West Bohemia. The Old Town of Cheb It delights visitors with its winding alleys, colorful facades, and an atmosphere that spans from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. The city is particularly famous for… Špalíček, an ensemble of narrow, towering houses that is among the city’s most iconic photo opportunities. Another highlight is the Cheb Castle, whose dark Black Tower and Romanesque architecture form a striking contrast to the colorful old town. A walk along the Eger rounds off the first day in a relaxed way. Overnight stay in Cheb.

🟦 Day 2: Cheb → Františkovy Lázně → Soos (approx. 25 km)

On the second day, we go to the elegant spa town Františkovy Lázně. The town impresses with its historic pavilions, yellow and white spa architecture, and extensive parklands. A visit to Aquaforum offers relaxation in warm thermal pools. Onward to the Soos Nature ReserveA fascinating moorland landscape with bubbling CO₂ springs, mud pots, and an almost volcanic character. 🟩 Day 3: Marienbad (Mariánské Lázně) – approx. 55 km

Today you will reach Marienbad, one of the most famous spa towns in Europe. The wide Spa Park with its perfect symmetry and the daily playing Singing Fountain make the place unique. The magnificent Colonnade With its ornate metal arches, it’s a real eye-catcher and one of the most beautiful buildings in Bohemia. Throughout the town, you’ll find thermal springs, each with its own unique flavor and health benefits. An evening stroll through the illuminated spa district creates the perfect atmosphere. 🟩 Day 4: Marienbad area

The fourth day is entirely dedicated to nature. Kladská Moorland is one of the quietest and most beautiful corners of the region: wooden boardwalks lead through dark lakes and dense forests Slavkovský les (Emperor’s Forest) offers rolling hills, clear air, and numerous hiking trails. 🟨 Day 5: Marienbad → Loket → Karlovy Vary (approx. 60 km)

Your route continues to Loket, a fairytale small town surrounded by a bend in the Ohře River. The Loket Castle towers high above the rooftops and offers great views of the old town. Afterwards, you continue on to Karlovy Vary, the center of the Bohemian spa triangle. Overnight stay in Karlovy Vary.

🟨 Day 6: Karlovy Vary (Karlovy Vary)

The sixth day belongs entirely to Karlovy Vary. Begin with a walk along the Mill Colonnade and try the hot healing water from the traditional porcelain cups. The city’s most famous geyser, which Sparkling Water, shoots up to 12 meters into the air. The Market Colonnade is another highlight, as is the cable car ride to Diana Observation Tower, from which you have a wide view over the spa town. The Grandhotel Pupp, known from films like James Bond, provides a glamorous end to the day. Overnight stay in Karlovy Vary.

🟥 Day 7: Karlovy Vary → Pilsen (approx. 90 km)

Today you’re traveling through the heart of West Bohemia to Pilsen. The city is world-famous for its beer, but has much more to offer. The St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral Its tall tower dominates the cityscape. Great Synagogue is one of the largest in Europe and impresses with its Moorish elements. The Historic Underworld offers an exciting tour through cellars, passageways, and old storerooms beneath the city. Overnight stay in Pilsen

🟥 Day 8 (optional): Pilsen & surrounding area

If you’d like to add another day, a visit to the legendary Pilsner Urquell Brewery – including a tasting directly from the oak barrel. Optionally, you can search for Domažlice drive, a town in the Chodsko region with traditional folklore and charming streets
