Die geheime Tram-Linie 23: Eine Nostalgie-Reise durch das versteckte Prag

While hordes of tourists cram into the famous Line 22, there is a charming alternative used almost exclusively by locals and true Prague connoisseurs: the Nostalgia Line 23. Only the iconic red and white Tatra T3 carriages from the 1960s run here – including plastic bucket seats and the typical rattling that is so much a part of Prague.

Warum die Linie 23 dein bester Freund ist

Line 23 follows almost the same route as line 22 in the city center, but then branches off into less well-known areas. It’s less crowded and offers the perfect vintage vibe for your sightseeing tour – all for the regular public transport fare!

  • Nový Svět (New World): Get on board Brusnice Just a few steps away lies Prague’s most picturesque quarter with tiny houses and cobblestone streets, which hardly any tourist finds.
  • Malostranské náměstí: Der perfekte Ort, um in die verwinkelten Gassen der Kleinseite einzutauchen oder den Aufstieg zum Petřín-Hügel zu wagen.
  • Národní divadlo: Cross the Vltava River with a view of the Charles Bridge, without having to get caught in the crowds yourself.

Sweet hidden gems along the route

Some of the city’s most charming cafes are hidden along line 23:

  • Kavárna Nový Svět: A tiny café in the alley of the same name. The garden in the backyard is an oasis of calm.
  • Cukrárna Alchymista: Near the final stop in Letná. A fairytale garden and addictive homemade cakes.

🚋 Practical tip

Line 23 runs daily (usually between 8:30 am and 7:00 pm). You will need no special ticket A regular 30-minute, 90-minute, or day ticket for Zone P (Prague) is perfectly sufficient. Have your camera ready when the old trams squeal around the bends near Belvedere Palace!
