Dining in Pilsen – Beer halls, Bohemian classics and modern food spots

Pilsen (Plzeň) Pilsner Urquell is not only the home of the world-famous beer – the city is also a true paradise for connoisseurs. Between brewery cellars, historic inns, and modern bistros, you’ll find everything: perfectly poured Pilsner. Tank beer, hearty Bohemian cuisine, international restaurants and creative cafes. In short: nobody goes hungry here

Here are my favorite addresses for your culinary tour through the city.

🍺 Traditional beer halls & Bohemian cuisine

Here you can often get fresh beer straight from the tank – plus classics like Svíčková, Goulash or roast pork with dumplings.

  • Na Parkánu – Right next to the brewery museum. Unfiltered Pilsner Urquell and an atmosphere like in the 1920s. Rustic, loud, authentic.
  • U Salzmannů – The oldest inn in the city (since 1637). Wood-paneled, rustic, and known for large portions of meat dishes
  • Lékárna (The Pharmacy) – On the main market square. A stylish reinterpretation of a pub with excellent tank beer and modern Czech cuisine
  • Lokál Pod Divadlem – Perfectly poured beer and honest home-style cooking – simple, high-quality and extremely popular
  • Na Spilce – Huge restaurant in the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell brewery, ideal for groups and brewery visits

🍴 Modern restaurants & international cuisine

  • Pizzeria Da Pietro – Neapolitan pizza at its finest. For many, the best pizza in the Czech Republic
  • Ristorante Rango – Italian-Mediterranean cuisine in a historic cellar. Perfect for a date dinner
  • El CID – Spanish tapas, fish dishes, and a stylish ambiance.
  • Potrefená Husa – Modern classics such as steaks, burgers and international dishes with reliable service.

☕ Cafes, Breakfast & Bistros

  • Le Frenchie – Parisian café flair, fantastic tarts and a hearty breakfast – right in the countryside
  • Pappa Coffee – Small roastery for true coffee lovers.
  • Walter – Modern brunch hotspot with legendary Berliners with salted caramel
  • Schovaná kavárna – Hidden backyard café, quiet and cozy.
  • DEPO2015 – Creative bistro in an old industrial building with street food vibes and changing menus.

🥗 Vegetarian & vegan

  • Satyr – Traditional vegetarian bistro with affordable daily specials.
  • Arnie’s – Colorful bowls, healthy cuisine and many vegan options.

My tip: Especially on weekends, you should definitely make a reservation at classics like Na Parkánu or Da Pietro. And don’t forget: In Pilsen Every meal should include at least one freshly tapped beer – preferably straight from the tank. 🍺
