At first glance, Hamleys Toy Shop in Prague only sells stuffed animals and board games, but it’s much more than that, so it’s worth understanding what to expect.. Hamleys Toy Shop in Prague used to cover more than 6,000 square meters across four floors, making it the largest toy store in the country and the second largest in Europe, but it is now slightly smaller, spread over two and a half floors. The opening in Prague in May 2016 meant that Hamleys now has stores in 22 countries.
HAMLEY’S TOYS AND GAMES
Firstly, they tend to focus more on physical toys and games than on video/screen games.. More than half of the products are Hamleys own brands. And there’s a lot of “try before you buy” involved.
HAMLEY’S TOY SHOP IN PRAGUE – ACTIVITIES
When Hamleys opened his first store in Prague When it first opened, the only activities you paid for were the race track and the carousel, and you paid in cash. They learned that parents would bring their children for a bit of fun, and over the years Hamleys has added more and more activities.. These are mostly grouped in their overarching activity mechanism called the “Fun Starts Here” map, and I need to explain how this works, as the website contains a little information.
FUN STARTS HERE OR HAMLEY’S CAR
In English, it’s called “Hamleys Card,” and the website has an online registration portal that you can personalize for each child. However, for practical reasons, it’s best to simply enter your own contact details and receive a card that covers you and your children.. You simply register your details and pick up the card when you go to the store.
The reason for registering only one card is that you need to “load” the card with sufficient credit to cover everything you want to do. You do this at the checkout on the ground floor.
Before you do that, it’s advisable to take some time to look at what activities Hamleys Toy Shop in Prague offers and which ones you might want to try. For example, the basic children’s attractions like the toboggan, carousel, mirror maze, digger, and racing cars are quite inexpensive, but you need the Hamleys Card to play them. However, you get a discount on other activities in the basement area, such as VR experiences, the butterfly house, and laser tag (usually 15%, but the laser tag discount is 25% with the card)..
There is a section called “Game City”, a retro gaming area, for which you can buy a separate fixed-price voucher and the games are priced individually.. Finally, the Hamleys Card also functions as a 10% discount card for all regular purchases of non-discounted items in the store.I would like to point out that there are toilets on the upper floor in the “Game City” area, but they are not free to use; it would have been nice if cardholders could pee for free!
