Karlštejn Karlštejn is a small market town in the Central Bohemian Region, named after the famous castle located there. The castle is of course the most important landmark of the town, but there are also other places worth seeing in Karlštejn.

Karlštejn Castle ( Karlštejn Castle Karlštejn Castle is a large medieval castle in the town of the same name, near the capital city of Prague. It is very popular with tourists and a perfect place for a day trip if you are in Prague. Prague It was founded in 1348 by the Bohemian King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. The castle was completed in 1365, and Charles IV used it to store royal treasures, holy relics, and the crown jewels. He is the same king who is the patron saint of the famous Charles Bridge in Prague.
The Clock Museum ( Dům hodin The museum boasts a beautiful collection of approximately 1000 clocks from around the world. Most of them are European, but there are also artifacts from China, Japan, and America. The museum is very easy to find; it’s located on the city’s main street at number 138.
The Nativity Museum ( Museum Betlémů ) is located in house number 11. Visitors can see a collection of old Czech Christmas cribs (also known as nativity scenes). Most of them are made of wood, but there are also some rare artifacts made of wax or even sugar. The most important artifact is the Royal Nativity Scene of Karlštejn ( Karlštejnsky královský betlém It occupies an area of 80 m² (861 sq ft). The Karlštejn wax museum It is located in house number 173, very close to the castle. It is one of three branches of the same museum. The other branches are located in Prague and Český Krumlov.
